Toto Wolff issues challenge to Ferrari
A few days before the Qatar GP, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff è expressed himself bluntly about the season finale and the fight for second place in the constructors’ championship with Ferrari, McLaren and Aston Martin.
"We knew that our pace in Japan would not be up to that shown in Singapore. These were two different tracks and the characteristics of Suzuka highlighted the weaknesses of the W14. Therefore, it was important to limit the damage in the constructor standings from Ferrari. With six races to go in the championship, we are looking forward to the fight and will give our best to stay ahead of our direct competitors, starting next weekend in Qatar" began the Mercedes team principal as can be read on "FormulaPassion".
"We will return to Qatar for the first time since 2021. That year was a success for us and we look forward to returning. With its wide curves è it is a challenging circuit that the riders also like. There have been changes both on and off the track. So in FP1 it will be important to understand the effect given by the resurfacing of the track. It will beà a Sprint weekend and therefore we will have little time to figure out how to behave and find a solid set-up for the rest of the weekend. It will beà interesting" added Toto Wolff.
