In addition, the South Tyrolean è dwelt on his first-round opponent Marcos Giron, since in case of success the Italian number one would win a pass to the Nitto ATP Finals.

"It's the first time for me in China and I am really happy to be here. Everyone has told me good things about the tournament and I hope it will be a fun week. I arrived in Shanghai yesterday, so I only had one day to train before my debut. I am happy to have won a tournament here in the East at the first opportunity" debuted the South Tyrolean.

"I played against him a few years ago and è really a very good tennis player. He moves well and è fast. It will be a tough match for me. First round matches are never easy. He has already played here, so we will see how things will go. I am very focused and hope to start the tournament in a positive way" added the Italian number one about Marcos Giron, his opponent in the first round.

"Obviously è an immense privilege to have the opportunity to play the same tournaments played by the best players in history. You must always try to enjoy the moment. We play all year round and you also have to have fun. I have a very good connection with the Chinese audience, so it è really nice to be here. I hope to be able to express a high level as I did last week" Jannik Sinner chipped in.
