Sofia Goggia turns over a new leaf and starts again
Sofia Goggia is pawing ahead of the season that is about to begin: the Italian downhill champion from the stage of the Sports Festival set the goals to be achieved, remaining però very realistic.
"You all ask me about the overall World Cup, it would clearly be the consecration. Who doesn’t dream of that cup? We have to però be realistic and aware of what we can do; looking at the panorama of female skiers at the international level, with a Shiffrin winning in three disciplines and in the fourth è in the ten, it becomes impossible".
"At the FISI Media Day, I was told that Luc Alphand c'è succeeded by only competing in the fast races, but è very unlikely to succeed even though this dream of the overall, I admit, was inside me 5 years ago after winning the Olympic downhill and I had a high level in the giant slalom. Then some injuries held me back and now I am trying to regain that compactness and stability; to have at least two disciplines at the top".
"I haven’t thought about the overall World Cup anymore, the super-g one instead sì becauseè to be a complete sprinter you have to have that trophy in your trophy cabinet as well. In that discipline è everything is more variable than in downhill, but I would like to express myself better and then … you never know".
On the Pink Avalanche: "We are making history in the Italian women’s movement since there has never been such a strong team. There are great individualities in this group, but each has aspects that cannot be found compared to a teammate, so they are towing and there'è always something to learn".
