Roberto Mancini without peace: third knockout in four with Saudi Arabia
The new adventure continues to present colossal difficulties.
Roberto Mancini still knocked out with his Saudi Arabia, which lost its third game out of four since è led by the Jesi coach. After the draw with Nigeria, in fact, è came a new defeat against Mali. Previously "the Sons of the Desert" had lost to Costa Rica and South Korea, also in friendly matches.
And friendly è was also the confrontation in Portimao, Portugal, against Mali. The Africans (who, unlike all of Saudi Arabia's previous opponents, have never played a World Cup in their history) prevailed with a 3-1 result. Signing their double lead were Doumbia on 14' and then Traoré on 42'. Illusory for Mancini’s men was Al Dawsari’s beautiful goal, as at 71' Sinayoko closed the accounts for good.
Mancini's last victory remains that of last June 18, when his Italy beat Holland 3-2 in the final for third place in the Nations League.
