The ninth day of Serie A closes with Empoli's big hit at the Franchi, imposing 2-0 on Fiorentina thanks to goals by Caputo and Gyasi.

The guests went ahead on 21' with Caputo, who beat Terracciano with a nice touch underneath, on an assist from Grassi. The Azzurri bomber doubled in the end of the first half but the Var denied him the joy of the double due to a hand touch.

In the second half, the Viola came close to equalizing with Sottil, who wasted by kicking wide from a favorable position. At 81'Empoli found the encore with Gyasi, who only had to push into the net a cross from the right side by Fazzini, splendidly set up by Cambiaghi. The hosts tried to regire but Berisha armored the guests’ goal with a couple of decisive interventions, including a miraculous one on Nico Gonzalez in the recovery.

Fiorentina remains firm at 17 points in the standings, in fifth place, while Empoli rises to 7 points, in 17th position, bypassing Udinese, stopped by Lecce on 1-1.
