Atalanta wasteful, bitter 2-2 in Austria
Sturm Graz-Atalanta 2-2
Atalanta missed an important opportunity to guarantee a passage to the Europa League round.
In the third round of Group D, Gasperini’s team drew 2-2 with Sturm Graz, despite having a numerical advantage for much of the match.
At the Graz-Liebenau Stadium, the Austrians managed to break the deadlock in the first half thanks to a deflected shot by Prass (13'), but Muriel turned the tide with two beautifully crafted goals, one on a personal action and the other on a penalty kick (34' and 45'+7). However, the Colombian’s goals were not enough.
In the second half, Hierlander è was sent off for double caution by referee Strukan (53'), but the hosts managed to tie the game with a penalty shot converted by Wlodarczyk (80').
