Matteo Berrettini dà the'goodbye to 2024
With a post published on Instagram Matteo Berrettini announced that he has ended his season early due to not yet perfect physical condition after the partial rupture of the anterior peroneal astragalic ligament, suffered during the match with Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in the second round of the last US Open. Matteo will therefore skip the Davis Cup finals. Here are the words of the 27-year-old Roman.
“Despite training at a high level for several weeks, my medical team warned that it would be risky to compete in the final tournaments of the ATP season. È it was very difficult to accept it, but I have to do what è that è best for next season and for my long-term career. I will take the’opportunity to reset, rebuild and start the’year in full form and health".
" It’s been an extremely difficult year, but I’m looking forward to a full and successful season in 2024. I will remain in close contact with the Davis Cup captain and will make myself available to support the Italian team in any way I can for the finals. Your support has helped me and continues to help me in some very difficult moments: thank you very much. I appreciate it very much”.
