Two, the big favorites of the’edition: the already seven-top Lionel Messi, who dragged Argentina to the World Cup, and Erling Braut Haaland, who won the Triple with Manchester City. Only one, the Italian representative, the interist Nicolò Barella. Three other players play in Serie A: Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen, from Napoli, and Lautaro Martinez, from Inter.

Also awarded on the same evening are the Women’s Ballon d’Or, the Kopa Trophy and the Yashin Trophy, respectively reserved for the World’s Best Female Player, the Best Under-21 Player and the Best Goalkeeper.
