Roma-Lecce 2-1

Roberto D'Aversa's Lecce came close to pulling off a feat at the Stadio Olimpico but had to reckon with a Roma side capable of overturning the 0-1, on which it had come to 90', by netting two goals in the midst of the second half to return to success after the knockout against Inter.

The start of the match was not encouraging for José Mourinho’s team: on 5', in fact, Romelu Lukaku was hypnotized by Wladimiro Falcone, who was good at parrying the penalty awarded (after consultation with the VAR) for a hand in the box by Baschirotto.

The first half è hard, Roma tried but Lecce held the field well, at halftime it went 0-0. The resumption starts along the same lines but Almqvist, with a beautiful left-footed shot on a feed from Banda, gets past Rui Patricio and puts the Salentini ahead at 72'.

Stunned by the opposing goal, Roma did not seem to be able to react effectively. Everything changes, forò, after the stroke of 90': first Sardar Azmoun, who entered shortly after the Lecce goal, breaks the resistance of the opponent defense by sealing the 1-1, then è Lukaku, at 94', to make up for the missed penalty by scoring under the Curva Sud the winning goal.

It's a crucial success for Roma, which climbs back up to eighth place on 17 points; Lecce, on the other hand, despite an excellent match, still remains winless, the last of which dates back to Sept. 22 against Genoa.
