Nine years later, Italy is back in the semifinals of the world’s top team competition in tennis, thanks to a 2-0 win over Germany in the second match of Group D of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. After their success over France (2-1) on Wednesday, the Azzurre repeated against the Germans, thanks to victories by Martina Trevisan and Jasmine Paolini.
The first point was brought by Trevisan, who defeated Eva Lys, No.130 in the ranking, with the score of 7-6(6) 6-1 after two hours and six minutes of play, having annulled to her opponent a set-point in the tie-break of the first partial.
The 2-0 scoreline was signed by Paolini, who è imposed herself on Anna-Lena Friedsam, No.115 in the ranking, with the score of 6-3 6-2 after one hour and seventeen minutes of play, in a match that was never in dispute.
