Official: Luca D'Angelo è the new coach of Spezia

Another change on the bench in Serie B has been made official. Spezia, in fact, after having exonerated Massimiliano Alvini, has announced the hiring as new coach of the former Pisa Luca D'Angelo, who signed a contract until the end of the season, with automatic extension in case of salvation.

"Spezia Calcio announces that it has appointed Luca D'Angelo as head coach of the first team, who has signed a contract with the club of via Melara until the end of the current season, with automatic extension until June 30, 2025 in case of salvation.

His career as a coach began in 2010 on the bench of Rimini in Serie D, a team that as a footballer had seen him as an absolute protagonist with the captain’s armband on his arm, immediately obtaining promotion to Serie C. After three seasons in Romagna, the landing on the bench of Alessandria in Lega Pro Second Division, and then settling in July 2015 at Fidelis Andria, newly promoted to Lega Pro, while in the following seasons his career is enriched with the experiences in Bassano and Caserta, where, after taking the helm of the team in early October, he became the protagonist of an extraordinary ride in the second half of the season, with Casertana able to win more points than anyone in the second half of the tournament, finishing in seventh place.

In 2018, the move to Pisa marks a milestone in his career for him, so much so that already in his first season on Tuscan soil he obtained promotion to Serie B, overcoming Triestina in the play-off final. In the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons, D'Angelo closes the championship in the middle of the standings, and then comes close to the feat in the 2021/2022 season: the winter champion Pisa is placed third, eliminating Benevento in the play-off semifinals and coming out defeated in the final against the battleship Monza, going one step away from the historic promotion to the top division. Closed his parenthesis in Tuscany, Luca D'Angelo will be recalled to sit on the bench of Pisa in the 2022/23 season, picking up the team in last place in the standings after six days with only two points earned and leading it to a salvation to say the least quiet, after collecting 14 consecutive useful results and finishing only two lengths from the playoffs.
