Jannik Sinner, the situation

Jannik Sinner has officially qualified for the semifinals of the 2023 ATP Finals and is now waiting to find out the name of his next opponent in the penultimate act of the prestigious "Grand Masters Tournament" at the Pala Alpitour in Turin. The South Tyrolean will return to the court on Saturday, while the final matches of the red group in round robin will take place today.

Italy&#39s number one finished in first place in his group, with three wins out of three, edging out Serbia&#39s Novak Djokovic. Now, he will face the runner-up in the other group in the semifinals. The Red Group è is still uncertain and three players are vying for the second place in the final group ranking, while Andrey Rublev has no chance of qualifying.

Russia’s Daniil Medvedev achieved the maximum score of two wins in two matches, arithmetically gaining passage to the knockout stage. As a result, Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev will compete for the last available spot on Saturday. The matches scheduled for today in Turin are: Alcaraz-Medvedev and Rublev-Zverev.

A success by Alcaraz would guarantee him automatic qualification while eliminating Zverev. In addition, the Spanish tennis player’s 2-0 triumph would propel him to the top spot in the group, overtaking Medvedev himself. The Russian, No. 3 in the world rankings, could still defend his position in the event of a loss, but only if Zverev succeeds in defeating Rublev.
