Before this year, it had already happened in 1973, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1989, 1990, 2004 and 2020. And three years ago it was Medveded himself who triumphed, opponent today of host Jannik Sinner.
The former No. 1 has also won six of the eight head-to-head clashes, but the blue è won the last two, in the finals in Beijing and Vienna.
