Carlos Sainz with bowed head: “Perfection was needed, there was none.”
A bitter Saturday, with an end-of-day explanation.
Carlos Sainz and his Ferrari continue not to be in gear at Yas Marina, where the Spaniard è was eliminated in Q1 in qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: this has not happened to him since è he arrived in Maranello. His 16th place on the grid, però, in his own words has an explanation.
"In this weekend everything è definitely very tight – highlighted Sainz to the microphones of 'Sky Sport' -. We are all very close, so even just to get into Q3 or Q2 needed to do everything perfectly. And we failed to do that".
The last attempt in Q1 è therefore proved insufficient for Sainz to pass the cut. "We came out of the pits very late, then we also had problems with the front wing. Plus there was also traffic in both the first and second sectors. I knew they weren't good, and although in the third I went strong it wasn't enough,'was the analysis of the Ferrari Spaniard.
