Died Franco Zuccalà, historic Rai correspondent

È passed away in the night at the age of 83 Franco Zuccalà. A native of Catania, where he was born Sept. 22, 1940, è was a historic soccer correspondent, but not only, for Rai and editor for “La Sicilia”, “La Gazzetta dello Sport”, “Il Giornale” and “Tuttosport”. Since 2000 he was a columnist for the Italpress news agency, for which he also produced football reports and documentaries.

Since 1966 he has covered four Olympics, ten World Cups, eight European Championships and two African Cups. He has made about sixty costume documentaries in Australia, South Africa, the U.S., South America, and Asia, altogether visiting more than 150 countries.

His reports on Rai in the Sunday sports rotogravures recounted the soccer of the 1980s and 1990s in a disenchanted and ironic way and helped to make even more entertaining a sport that in Italy experienced its golden years at that time. Simply put, they were appreciated by everyone.

To the family of Franco Zuccalà all the mostù heartfelt condolences from the editorial staff of Sportal.it.
