Mourinho under indictment: "Like a provincial theater"

Former referee designator Paolo Casarin has harshly attacked José Mourinho for his words about referee Marcenaro on the eve of the match between Sassuolo and Roma, later won by the Giallorossi 2-1. Casarin first and foremost defended the young referee: "Everyone who follows referees a bit knows that Marcenaro è the future of Italian refereeing, è one who is extremely calm, not è emotional. Evidently Mourinho does not know him", are the words to Radio 1 reported by Ansa.

"When I see a great coach like Mourinho saying all those things before the game, then it means that there'è something is not working. This freedomà to criticize beforehand by bringing up things of poor content must not be allowed, this stuff must be panned, it canò not be done".

Casarin è also very harsh towards the bench attitude of the Special One and his staff: "To me these benches look like a provincial theater…. What good are 70 people in total between the two benches? I have 65 years of refereeing and I have seen it all, soò I am sorry. I know that referees want to talk to coaches and captains by having these meetings at Coverciano or elsewhere. So on the one hand there'è the willè to go to meetings and on the other hand a frontal attack of this manner".

"A great coach never does this stuff, there are no lies he tells like the one about the language and you don't go and tell the audience 'calm'. I remind you that at the World Cup in Italy '90 everyone had to sit, and Beckenbauer who had back problems had to get special permission to stand"
