Serie A 2023-24: Monza-Genoa, the probable formations
Monza-Genoa, the probable formations
Monza and Genoa will face off on Sunday (kickoff at 3 p.m.) at U-Power Stadium, home of the Brianzoli, for the match valid for the 15th day of Serie A. These are que ambitious teams, as much from the point of view of seasonal goals as for the game expressed on the field, both coached by young coaches: on one side Raffaele Palladino, on the other Alberto Gilardino.
The red and white coach will most likely rely on the tried-and-true 3-4-2-1, with Colombo in attack supported by Colpani and Valentin Carboni. On the other side, the 2006 world champion responds with a five-man midfield and, in attack, is betting everything on the duo of Albert Gudmundsson and Mateo Retegui, in his third game since returning after injury.
As for the state of form, Monza hasn't won since Nov. 5 (3-1 in Verona against Hellas): since then came draws against Torino and Cagliari and a mocking defeat against Juventus (1-2 with Gatti's goal in 94'). Genoa also got its last victory against Hellas (at Marassi on Nov. 10, 1-0 the score), then came the knockout in Frosinone (1-2), the 1-1 draw with Empoli and the defeat in the Coppa Italia against Lazio.
Probable lineups:
MONZA (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; D'Ambrosio, Pablo Marì, Caldirola; Ciurria, Pessina, Gagliardini, Kyriakopoulos; Colpani, V.Carboni; Colombo. All. Palladino.
GENOA (3-5-2): Martinez; De Winter, Dragusin, Vasquez; Sabelli, Thorsby, Badelj, Frendrup, Haps; Gudmundsson, Retegui. All. Gilardino.
