Jannik Sinner wins again: Paris-Bercy announces changes
Controversy is served: organizers of the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 have announced "changes" following Jannik Sinner's forced withdrawal for playing at night in the last Paris tournament. The Azure had forfeited after his victory over McDonald in a match that ended at 2:37 a.m., which had sent the South Tyrolean's staff into a rage.
Director Cedric Pioline explained in a note that such cases will not happen again: "The results of the 2023 edition of the Paris Masters 1000 are very positive. We are already looking forward to the 2024 edition and have many ideas to optimize it and meet the challenges of hosting and calendar".
"In 2024 the center court schedule will change: three matches in the day sessions and only two in the evening sessions", explained Pioline. Sinner in the round of 16 would face Australia's De Minaur.
