Bologna dreams of Champions: 2-0 to Roma, is fourth alone
The student prevails over the master, and the ranking now makes people dream.
Bologna beats Roma, and now the Rossoblù are allowed to dream of the Champions League. The "direttissima" challenge of the Dall'Ara stadium, where the two teams had come in on equal points, rewards without appeal the rossoblù of that Thiago Motta who knocked out a José Mourinho who guided him in 2010 to win the Triplete with the Inter jersey. Today, forò, the 2-0 win by the Felsinei is worth a momentary solo fourth place in the Serie A standings.
The challenge in Bologna started with a good pace by both teams, with the hosts però making themselves preferred. Saelemaekers and Zirkzee try to scare Roma, which seems to want to close down and wait. The Rossoblù però gained meters over the course of the minutes and, after risking on a sudden header by Belotti, went ahead at 37' thanks to Moro, who took full advantage of Ndoye's assist on Freuler's intuition.
One would expect an immediate reaction from Roma at the beginning of the second half, but to come è Bologna’s double: è on 49', Ferguson collects a nice ball from Zirkzee on the right and crosses it into the center where Kristensen anticipates Ndoye but deposits the ball into his own goal. The Giallorossi do not react, and even Mourinho recalls Renato Sanches to the bench 18 minutes after sending him on. Only Belotti went close to the goal that would reopen the match, which ended instead with a well-deserved success for a Bologna team in full race to participate in the next Champions League.
