Swiss triumph in Obereggen

The Swiss flag flies over the 40th edition of the Obereggen European Cup slalom, which can be reviewed tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 19, on Rai Sport TV (channel 58). In keeping with tradition, never say never on the Maierl slope in Obereggen (20 minutes from Bolzano), which again this year held thrills and surprises right to the end. On the treacherous slope (slope gradient up to 55%) the slalom è was won by the Swiss Schmidiger (1:44.80), who regained three positions from the first run led by Frenchman Amiez, winner of the 2022 edition.

It was precisely Amiez, ahead by 1 second 8 hundredths at the start of the second, è jumped, giving the green light to Schmidiger’s triumph, ahead of teammate Iten who recovered as many as nine positions (1:45.28, +0.48), third the Norwegian Solberg (1:45.33, +0.53) who recovered seven positions. First Italian Corrado Barbera (1:46.40, +1.60), thirteenth after finishing the first heat in fifth place.

The Maierl è slope has been excellently prepared by the organizing committee chaired by Eduard Pichler and vice-president Simon Neulichedl, in cooperation with the Obereggen Latemar SpA lift company chaired by Siegfried Pichler, the Ega Ski Club, the Obereggen Ski and Snowboard School chaired by Thomas Prinoth and the Asv Nova Ponente.
