Virtus Bologna beats Olimpiacos and è second alone

Tuesday&#39s was a magical Euroleague night for Virtus Bologna: in fact, the Black VUs won on a comeback against Olympiacos, winning 69-67 after starting the last period down by 10 points. The success è also important in terms of the standings: thanks to Barcelona's simultaneous knockout against Alba Berlin, Virtus è second alone, with 11 wins and 4 losses, behind only Real Madrid (14-1 record for the Blancos).

On the sidelines of the victory, Luca Banchi explained the key to success: "In the second half we showed the identity of a team made up of players who want to compete, no matter what the physical differences noré the score on the scoreboard. We attacked better and slowly crumbled them, while in the first half we were shooting 20% and never went to the lunette".

"What è changed in the last quarter? We played on tracks more congenial to us,” Banchi explained, “and I won’t hide the fact that the great support of our fans helped in no small part. We know that it takes little to involve the’environment, and we succeeded in the final. But it was already from the beginning of the third quarter that the feelings had become positive, while in the first half there was a bit of surrender".

Virtus Bologna thus obtains victory number 11 in this Euroleague regular season: with three more victories it would have already equaled last year’s win total, obtained forò playing 34 games.On today’s night, in terms of statistics, Cordinier’s 13 points, Belinelli’s 12 and Dobric’s 10, as well as the all-around performance of a Hackett with 8 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists, are worth mentioning.
