Lazio restarts in Empoli, Genoa comes back and beats Sassuolo
Two important away victories to put as many difficult times behind them.
Lazio and Genoa restarted with two crucial victories in a delicate phase of the season for both the Biancocelesti and the Grifone. Maurizio Sarri’s men came out on top at Empoli 2-0, after picking up just one point in their previous two Serie A matches. The Ligurians, on the other hand, managed to beat Sassuolo, which had also taken the lead at the Mapei Stadium: 2-1 the final.
For Lazio, the trip to Tuscany (in a stadium historically dear to its coach) began in the best of ways: as early as 9' the lead arrived thanks to Guendouzi, skillful in taking advantage of a long action started by Luis Alberto and continued by Zaccagni. Then Sarri lost Immobile and Luis Alberto for as many muscle injuries in the space of a handful of minutes, and Empoli came close to equalizing several times (Provedel on Cambiaghi was fundamental at the beginning of the second half). At 67' però Zaccagni closed the score on a counterattack after having a first conclusion repelled by Caprile.
For Genoa, on the other hand, it got even worse on the field of Sassuolo, which passed at 28' with the signature of the former Pinamonti after great action of Laurentié. The Grifone, already dangerous earlier, attacked with conviction in the remainder of the match and found the equalizer at 64' when Gudmundsson converted a penalty awarded for Erlic's hands in the box. Instead, at 87'87' came the overtaking goal, when Ekuban took advantage of Gudmundsson's own heel and sprinted toward Consigli's goal before beating him with his left.
