Christmas vacations in home mountains for Jannik Sinner
For Jannik Sinner, too, Christmas holidays mean air of home and of his own family. The 22-year-old South Tyrolean world number 4 tennis player spent these last few days in Sesto, the village in Val Pusteria where he è grew up, and spent them skiing, the first sport in which he è came to prominence as a young boy, only to leave it, much to the delight of tennis fans.
Jannik documented his skiing with a video on social media and with the following comment: “I missed all this but now è time to get back on the court”, preceded by another video with a greeting to his fans: Merry Christmas everyone! Enjoy the holidays with your families! See you in Australia”.
In the days leading up to Christmas, Sinner è trained in Spain, in Alicante, at the Ferrero Tennis Academy with his friend and rival Carlos Alcaraz, who along with him and Dane Holger Rune è the biggest contender to permanently undermine Novak Djokovic from the top of world tennis. Jannik also attended the’inauguration of the Academy’s new main court.
Sinner will return to the court in an’exhibition at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club in Melbourne, the former home of the Australian Open, the first Slam of 2024, which will begin immediately after this tournament and will be played Jan. 14-28.
