Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel’s touching anecdote
Sebastian Vettel gets on the memory train talking about Schumi
For many, Sebastian Vettel was Michael Schumacher's designated heir and with four world titles he certainly è managed to carve out a place for himself in Formula 1 history, althoughé the much coveted title at Ferrari, as his "maestro" succeeded, never came. Speaking to German TV 'RTL', Vettel wanted to remember Schumi ten years after the Meribel accident, with a touching anecdote.
"I still remember our last conversation, in 2013, it could not have been more beautiful. I told him that I was going to be a father, it was really emotional…. Reflecting on what è happened ten years ago è still very, very difficult to accept all this, from my point of view è nice that he continues to fight. I wish him the best, I often think of him".
"I miss my friend Michael,” added Seb. “In the last years of my career I am sure he would have been important to me. I had so many questions and I’m sure he would have all the answers, he would have inspired me. Clearly for his family it is more difficult, I think of Mick who was a teenager at the time. For them it must have been like being in another dimension".
Michael Schumacher è one of the most successful drivers in F1 history: along with Lewis Hamilton è the holder of the most driver titles won (seven), he also boasts as many as 91 Grand Prix wins, 155 total podiums, 68 pole positions and 77 fastest race laps. With Ferrari he won the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 titles.
