Gil de Ferran è died: he was only 56 years old

The world of motorsports and American series in particular è in mourning: at only 56 years old è died Gil de Ferran, one of the most beloved drivers in North America, able to win two years in a row (2000 and 2001) the Champ Car championship and to conquer, in 2003, one of the most important races on the international scene, the Indianapolis 500.

According to reports from the 'Associated Press', de Ferran è was crushed by a heart attack in Florida, at Opa Locka. Immediate condolences from Indycar’s top management and also from the world of Formula 1, particularly McLaren for whom the French-born Brazilian had been sporting director and consultant.

"IndyCar learns with sadness the passing of two-time champion nonchalant; racing legend Gil de Ferran – reads the official channels of the series that absorbs; Champ Car at the end of the 2007 season -. We are close in thought to his family, friends and loved ones".
