In Ferrari Lewis Hamilton will reunite with Frederic Vasseur after nearly two decades

After almost 20 years in 2025 the paths of Frederic Vasseur and Lewis Hamilton will cross again. In fact, Ferrari’s acting team principal already had the British driver in his employ in 2006 in GP2.
That year Hamilton raced for ART Grand Prix, the team founded by Vasseur together with Jean Todt’s son Nicolas Todt, ch used Mecachrome-powered Dallara chassis. The year before, on its debut in the cadet championship, the team had immediately won both the drivers’ title with Nico Rosberg and the constructors’ title.
But in 2006 came to Vasseur’s team, precisely, Hamilton, who proved to the world what he was made of with an extraordinary season: five victories, seven second and two third places and the conquest of the title. The following year Lewis, who had been under the Mercedes orbit for years, moved to Formula 1 at McLaren, which was powered by engines from the German manufacturer. The rest, as they say, è history.
Vasseur instead restò in the miori categories winning in GP2 another drivers’ title with Nico Hulkenberg and a constructors’ title both in 2009, while in GP3 he won three constructors’ titles from 2010 to 2013 and two drivers’ titles, in 2010 with Esteban Gitierrez and in 2011 with Valtteri Bottas.
In 2014 he left the team he had founded and in 2016 he landed in Formula 1, joining Renault as team principal, but left at the end of the season. In 2017, on July 12, he was appointed managing director and team principal of Sauber, which in 2019 became Alfa Romeo for all efects after the house of the Biscione had entered the official name of the team already since the previous year, when one of the drivers was Charles Leclerc.
Finally, last year, Vasseur’s arrival at Ferrari, where he found Lecerc again after five years, and next year, after 19 years, history will repeat itself with Lewis Hamilton, who after having as a very young promising driver and already very fast and winning driver will find himself again as a 40-year-old driver who has won everything that could be won.
