In the world of Formula 1 and beyond, there is nothing but talk about the transfer (in 2025) of Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari. The day after the resounding announcement even Toto Wolff, team principal of Mercedes, commented not without hiding a bit of disappointment.

"With Lewis we met for coffee and he told us he would race with Ferrari. We respect his decision, it will be the last contract for him. We had signed a limited contract with him. We were not as surprised by his farewell as we were by the timing. He evidently needed a new challenge inside a new environment: è his last opportunity" to win the title.

The post-Hamilton è already begun, with young George Russell, from the Mercedes nursery, assuming the role of main driver from 2025. However, the question that now arises è who could join him in the German team. The options are many, as several drivers will have their contracts expiring at the end of the year. Among the potential candidates are Esteban Ocon, Alexander Albon, Pierre Gasly, Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso. In particular, the situation of Sainz è interesting, considering that he could in fact make the reverse journey than Hamilton.

But there's also another possibility that is causing a stir: Sebastian Vettel could make a return to Formula 1 in 2025 behind the wheel of Mercedes. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the four-time world champion who had retired at the end of 2022 after two disappointing seasons has reportedly already sounded out Audi and with Wolff there had been contacts in 2020.
