Napoli, Walter Mazzarri disappointed with refereeing
Walter Mazzarri: "We miss a penalty"
The comeback success against Hellas Verona on Sunday allows Napoli to celebrate a return to success in the league and remain fully in the race for qualification for the next Champions League. At the end of the match, però Walter Mazzarri has something to say to the refereeing staff, referring to the Cabal-Kvaratskhelia contact in the box in the early stages of the match, which neither referee nor VAR deemed foul.
"We miss a penalty, to me è it seemed clear – said the coach of the partenopei to the microphones of 'Dazn' -. The referee didn't see it, maybe he is there, but VAR should have called him back and let him blow the whistle. By scoring it, we could have opened the game from the start and our performance would certainly have been more beautiful".
In the end, however, the three points came thanks precisely to a feat by the Georgian: "We played the game from the start,” Mazzarri explained, “we created several chances but then, incredibly, we found ourselves under. Other teams would have given up, we did not: we believed in it and went to take the victory".
The race for the Europe that matters, then, continues: "Our approach must be clear: from now on, we must consider the sixteen games remaining as if they were finals; we will only be able to draw conclusions at the end. There'è no longer even the market as a potential distraction: we must continue to be a group, we can play with everyone".
