Jose Mourinho, backstory on Daniele De Rossi
José Mourinho, revelation about Daniele De Rossi
The destinies of José Mourinho and Daniele De Rossi crossed paths a few weeks ago, when the Portuguese coach's exoneration from the role of Roma coach was followed by the hiring, as technical guide of the Giallorossi, of former captain Daniele De Rossi: the same destinies, they could have met some time ago, by Mourinho's own admission. Not one alternative to the other but towards the same direction.
Speaking on the sidelines of a publicity event, in fact, Mourinho revealed that he had sought out De Rossi as a footballer: "To stay on the subject of Roma,” said Mourinho, “I would have liked De Rossi at the time of Inter and further at Real madrid, but it was not possible. At Inter I would also have liked Totti, but even then it couldn't be done.
Despite his abrupt farewell to Roma, Mourinho nevertheless remains attached to the Giallorossi colors, so much so that he cites the Conference League triumph in 2022 as his fondest memory on the bench: "It wasn’t the most important trophy I won, but it brought me to a dimension of great joy".
Born in 1963, Mourinho è one of the most successful coaches of the past two decades: in fact, he boasts, among other successes, eight domestic titles (two with Porto, three with Chelsea, two with Inter Milan, one with Real Madrid), two Champions Leagues (Porto 2004 and Inter 2010), two Europa Leagues (Porto 2003 and Manchester United 2017) and the 2022 Conference League won on the Roma bench.
