The start of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship 2024 is approaching in which we will also see the debut of Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven), ready to return to action. ‘The Maniac’ è was fast in the tests held in Jerez and Portimao riding the Panigale V4 R and is aiming to repeat in the race as well.

Iannone has spent 14 seasons in the MotoGP paddock, between 125cc, Moto2 and MotoGP. Between 2005 and 2009, he won four races in 125cc, eventually landing in the Moto2 World Championship in 2010, staying there for three years. All seasons he finished them in third place in the standings, winning a total of eight races, before moving on to the premier class. In all, there were seven years in the top class in which in 2016 he won a race with Ducati and collected 11 podiums. On Dec. 17, 2019 è he was disqualified for four years by the TAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) for violating an anti-doping rule after testing positive for a banned substance during a post-Malaysia GP check.

Back in action, ‘The Maniac’ in the test held at the end of 2023 in Jerez impressed everyone by making a 1’39.335 that è earned him the fifth time while on the same track in January he did even better thanks to a 1’38.744. Also in January he rode a road bike for the first time at Portimao signing a 1’40.654, coming within one second and 465 thousandths of Toprak Razgatlioglu’s (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) best time.

At the first test of 2024 held in Jerez, Iannone spoke about the goals he would like to achieve this year: “I am happy with this return. I am living a dream once again. È beautiful. I am really happy to be back with Ducati, my favorite bike that I am going to ride once again. We hope to do a great job. I think the most important thing is to try to enjoy every moment. I am back and I want to give everything”.
