Fiorentina overflowing: five goals at Frosinone, first joy in purple for Belotti
Fiorentina-Frosinone 5-1
Fiorentina won the lunch match of the 24th day of Serie A by defeating Frosinone with a clear 5-1. It was an important success for Vincenzo Italiano’s men, who had not won a league match since last Dec. 29 against Torino and in January had achieved only one success, in the Coppa Italia, on penalties against Bologna.
To open the scoring è one of the new arrivals of the January market, Andrea Belotti: the former Roma player took 16 minutes to score, in the split on an assist from Ikone. The latter was instead the author of the 2-0 a few minutes later, on 19': on his conclusion è however, the decisive deflection of Okoli, which deceives Turati.
At the sunset of the first half comes the tris, signed Martinez Quarta: è in fact, the 43' when, on Biraghi’s corner, the Argentine strikes a header on a ball that first hits the crossbar and then bounces beyond the goal line. At the beginning of the second half, more precisely at 53', Nico Gonzalez closes the accounts taking the best advantage of an opponent defensive error to find himself alone in front of Turati and pass him with a precise conclusion.
Frosinone had to settle for Mazzitelli's goal at 66', a free kick that, also due to a deflection of the barrier, left Terracciano no chance, but è too little to reopen a match that, indeed, saw one last purple goal, that of Barak at 86': a goal a bit of a spur of the moment, with the ball caromed between the Czech’s feet after a rebound by Turati on Nzola.
The match at the Franchi thus ends 5-1 for Fiorentina: the Viola rise to 37 points and try to relaunch themselves in the race for fourth place, while Frosinone must reflect not only on a heavy defeat that leaves them 23 points behind in the standings but also on a relegation zone that is getting, if not close, at least threatening.
