First final on the ATP circuit for the young blue

Simply perfect. Darderi does not stop dreaming big. The 21-year-old Italian è succeeded in the feat of overcoming, in the semifinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Cordoba, the big favorite Baes (world number 26), thus winning the first final of his career on the circuit. After a full two hours and 22 minutes of play, Darderi got the better of the strong Argentine.

Winning the first set easily (6-1), Darderi suffered Baez’s reaction (6-3). In the decisive third set, the blue è was flawless, closing 6-3 (decisive break in the eighth game) and avenging the heavy defeat suffered a year ago, precisely against Baez, on the clay of Cordoba. Obviously this is the most prestigious victory to date for the native of Villa Gesell, Argentina, but with an Italian passport.

Now the big chance to try to win the tournament. In the final he will face another Argentine, namely Bagnis, number 207 in the ATP rankings who, in the semifinals, eliminated compatriot Coria. Neither has ever won an ATP tournament. However the final turns out, Darderi è already sure to enter, officially, the Top 100. An achievement of enormous prestige.
