Inter tries to armor up Nicolo Barella
Stretcher’s future
In the latter stages of the summer market, when it was evident that the negotiation for Paquetà would not go through, Manchester City officially expressed interest in Nicolò Barella, knocking on Inter Milan's door to get information about the player. Pep Guardiola, who shortly before had seen him play against his team in the Champions League final, wanted to bring the blue midfielder to the Premier League. Inter però did not open to the possibility of a transfer, thus confirming Barella's intention to continue playing in the Nerazzurri.
This market backstory, reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, projects toward the Nerazzurri vice-captain’s present and future: with his contract expiring in 2026, a renewal is being negotiated that would extend his contract by another three years, until 2029. Both parties are committed to certifying Barella's attachment to Inter and vice versa.
Currently, Barella earns about 6 million euros between base salary and bonuses, while in the new deal being discussed his salary would reach 7 million, placing him behind only Lautaro Martinez in the club’s salary hierarchy.
