Gerry Cardinale unveils Milan’s future
The words of Gerry Cardinale
Gerry Cardinale gave a lengthy interview to Corriere della Sera: "He will be happy when we win the Champions League, but I say that the championship è still long and anything can happen. Let’s see. We have to improve in so many things, with injuries for example. Everyone, starting with me, has to do a better job. But I will not quit; I will be here for a long time. Nobody wants to win more than me".
"Not being happy at a certain stage does not translate into firing the’coach. I think Pioli is doing a good job in a situation that is not easy, with a very renovated team. I do not give in to the temptation to “fire” someone just to change something. We have changed a lot and it takes time to create a cohesive team. We are growing, close to second place, and credit for that goes to players, staff, coach. I am very satisfied with what I saw with Rennes, matches like that give the players a lot of confidence and it was needed. Despite the many new additions, the group is making progress".
Filling in on the stadium: "I am very pleased with the progress we are making, definitely a lot in 18 months, to get to build the first new stadium in Italy since 2011, with 70,000 seats. Reconsidering San Siro? I don’t think so, but every option deserves attention".
