Vavassori eliminated

Andrea Vavassori came close to a major feat at the "IEB+ Argentina Open". Although he exited in the quarterfinals, he can walk away with his head held high. The player from Turin, number 152 in the ranking and coming from the qualifiers, lost to Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, number 2 in the ranking and the tournament’s first favorite, as well as the defending champion.

The final score è was 7-6(1) 6-1, with the first set being particularly balanced until the tie-break. Despite the defeat, Vavassori showed that he is capable of competing at a high level in singles as well: the first semifinal of his career seems only postponed.

Alcaraz, although perhaps not expressing his best form, still showed a lot of solidity in his game. He served one ace and committed one double fault, but he hit 80 percent of his first serves and won 67 percent of the points on them. In addition, he won 71 percent of the points with his second serve.
