It was Max Verstappen, in the new Red Bull, who clearly set the fastest time on the first part of the first day of testing at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain.

1'32"548 was the time set by the three-time world champion, 699 thousandths ahead of the Ferrari SF24 of Charles Leclerc, who placed second. Third at 837 thousandths Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin.

Fourth at 1"110 Oscar Piastri with the McLaren, fifth at 1"588 Yuki Tsunoda with the Racing Bulls (RB), formerly Alpha Tauri, sixth at 1"682 George Russell with the Mercerdes, seventh at 1"883 Valtteri Bottas in the Kick Sauber, eighth at 2"039 Alexander Albon in the Williams, ninth at 2"129 Esteban Ocon in the Alpine, tenth at 3"144 Kevin Magnussen in the Haas.

The second part of testing will begin at 1 p.m. Italian time, conclusion dewlla first day at 5 p.m.
