Lorenzo Bernardi’s Igor Volleyball got off on the right foot in the Challenge Cup final, overcoming Nantes 3-0 at the end of a hard-fought match. Azzurre dragged by an excellent Bosetti (13 points, 60% in attack) and the excellent debut of Markova, MVP of the match with her 17 points (including 4 aces, many heavy).

“We started off on the right foot in this double challenge but we are perfectly aware that the decisive match will be the return match, as always when a final is not played in a dry game – Lorenzo Bernardi’s words -. Of course it’s better to get there with the small advantage of having won by three points but Nantes has shown its value and at home, next Wednesday, we will raise the bar even higher. We will think about it from Sunday, first we have the championship challenge with Vallefoglia that has a very high value for us”.

He was echoed by Marina Markova: “I am really happy with this debut, it was the first time I played a European cup match and it was a final. I was nervous and excited but then playing I melted, also thanks to my teammates. I am proud of all of them, I think we played a good performance but now we have to look at Saturday’s match and then the return match in Nantes, becauseé they will be two very tough challenges”.
