Civitanova flies to Supercup final, Modena knocked out

Cucine Lube Civitanova qualified for the Super Cup final, beating Valsa Group Modena 3-0 in Cagliari.

The Emilians started with a sextet consisting of Bruno-Lagumdzija in the main diagonal, Ngapeth-Rinaldi in the band, Krick-Bossi in the center with Gollini at libero. Civitanova responded with De Cecco-Garcia Fernandez, Nikolov-Bottolo hammers, Diamantini-Chinenyeze center and Balaso libero.

Lube got off to a strong start, leading 0-4. It revved up Modena’s engine, Lagumdzija hit an ace and winning parallel, 9-9. Ngapeth’s ace kept the yellows attached to Civitanova, 14-14. It came down to 19-20 with both teams expressing good volleying. In the final of the partial set Lube placed the decisive break, 23-25. It also started well in the second set for Blengini’s team, 3-6. It stretched Lube again, who ran away, 6-12. It came down to 16-18 with the Yellow Jackets posting a major comeback. Bruno and his teammates did not stop, 22-22 but in the final it was Lube again who had the better of the match, 23-25. The third set was played point-to-point, 9-10 then it was Lube break, 13-15. It kept pushing Civitanova who went to 18-21 and then closed the set 20-25 and 0-3 the match.
