ATP 500 Doha: Lorenzo Sonego and Lorenzo Musetti in semifinals in doubles
The adventure of Lorenzo Sonego and Lorenzo Musetti in the doubles of the Doha ATP 500 continues. The two Azzurri, in fact, detached their pass for the semifinals, without playing, benefiting from the forfeit of the duo composed of Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Finn Emil Ruusuvuori.
The two Italians, who were both defeated in the first round of the singles draw by China's Zhang Zhizhen and Russia's Pavel Kotov, respectively, will play for qualification to the tournament finals against the pair consisting of Germany's Andreas Mies and Australia's John-Patrick Smith, who ruled Britain's Llyod Glasspool and the Netherlands's J.J. Rojer 3-6 6-3 10-8.
Musetti played only one doubles tournament this season: at the Rotterdam ATP 500 he paired with Kazakh Alexander Bublik, losing in the quarterfinals to Dutchmen Robin Haase and Botic van de Zandschulp. Sonego è on the other hand, in his first doubles matches in 2024, but last year he was stellar in Davis Cup together with Jannik Sinner.
