A super Lorenzo Sonego was not enough to stop Daniil Medvedev in the round of 16 of the Dubai ATP 500. The Turin-based tennis player, in fact, è forced to surrender to the world number 4 and number one seed in the seeding, who è won in a comeback 3-6 6-3 6-3 after a two-hour battle.
Sonego got off to a strong start and immediately broke Medvedev on serve at the first useful chance, jumping ahead by a break, later confirmed (3-0). The Russian tried to come back into the partial (2-3) but the Italian placed a new and decisive stretch (5-2), closing on 6-3 final. In the second set è service was the dominant factor until 4-3 for Medvedev: here Sonego had a lapse that cost him the second set, won 6-3 by the Russian.
In the third and decisive set, the balance is broken in the fifth game: Sonego misses a comfortable slap volley that would have put him up 3-2 and gives up the serve on the advantages.
