Luciano Darderi è to the quarters in Santiago

Luciano Darderi's adventure in the main draw of the Santiago tournament, ATP 250 on clay, continues: after defeating in three sets the lucky loser Facundo Bagnis in the first round, the Italo-Argentinian beat Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the round of 16, thus avenging the defeat of last February 17, against the same opponent, in the qualifiers of the Rio de Janeiro tournament.

The match on Chilean soil è ended in three sets, with partials of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 that rewarded Darderi, recent winner of the Cordoba ATP and climbed to 80th place in the ATP rankings. Today's match è lasted two hours and nineteen minutes, with Darderi good at not losing his composure after losing the second set.

This is thus the second consecutive victory for Darderi, who after his almost surprise success in Cordoba had participated in the Buenos Aires ATP, stopping in the round of 16 in the face of Sebastian Baez, and in the already mentioned qualifiers of the Rio de Janeiro tournament, which he did not pass.

Class of 2002, Argentine by birth but Italian by tennis training, Darderi boasts, in addition to his success in the Cordoba ATP 250, several good results at the minor circuit level: in his trophy cabinet there are two Challengers won (both in Monastir, in 2021), plus two other ITF tournaments (Todi and Lima, both in 2023).
