Matej Mohoric promises battle at Strade Bianche

The seventeenth edition of the Strade Bianche, a race on the roads, asphalt and dirt, of the Sienese province valid for the UCI World Tour 2024 calendar, is approaching in stride. A race in which the 2023 world gravel champion, Matej Mohoric, wants to do well, convinced that he can use the wide unpaved section to his advantage.

"With the new route, the dynamics of the race will change this year compared to past editions,” the Slovenian explained to the channels of Bahrain Victorious, his team. The greater length may favor lighter climbers and long stage race specialists. However, Saturday will dependà a lot on our strategy".

"I feel in good shape – added Mohoric, in his seventh participation in the race on Tuscan soil -, although the results of the opening weekend of my season were not as expected. I approach the race with cautious ambition, determined to do well and fight for victory".

Also expressing great confidence in Mohoric’s means is the Bahrain-based team’s sporting director, Roman Kreuziger: "The race this year puts riders in front of undoubtedly more demanding challenges, with its extended length and more than 4 thousand meters of elevation gain – explained the former Czech cyclist. The Strade Bianche è a newly established Classica, but it has the potential to become Monument".

"It promises to be a spectacular race,” Kreuziger told Bahrain Victorious’ official channels again, provided the weather holds and our riders implement their strategy. Although we are optimistic about everyone’s chances, Matej Mohoric è clearly our leader".

There will be seven Bahrain Victorious riders taking part in Saturday’s race, which will arrive in the always picturesque setting of Piazza del Campo in Siena: in addition to Mohoric, Nicolò Buratti, Matevz Govekar, Fran Mihojlevic, Andrea Pasqualon,Torstein Traeen and Edoardo Zambanini will also be from the race.
