F1, Daniel Ricciardo the fastest in the first free practice in Bahrain, Ferrari back
È it was Daniel Ricciardo with the Racing Bulls (and on soft tires) the fastest in the first free practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix, which will inaugurate the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship on Saturday.
The Australian was 32 and 244 thousandths ahead of the two McLarens of Lando Norris, also on soft tires, and Oscar Piastri, on medium tires. Fourth was the second Racing Bulls, that of Yuki Tsunoda, on soft tires.
The big guys set their best times all on medium tires: fifth at 324 thousandths Fernando Alonso with the Aston Martin, sixth and 12th the Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, seventh and ninth the Mercedes of George Russell and Lews Hamilton.
The Ferraris, also on medium tires, placed eighth with Charles Leclerc and 11th with Carlos Sainz, but they seem to have a good pace on the race pace. At 4 p.m. Italian time the second free practice session.
