Volleyball, men’s Champions League: Trento advances, will be derby with Civitanova
Trento scrambles Berlin: all-Italian semifinal in Champions League
Trento does not fail its goal: after having already won the first leg of the quarterfinal against Berlin, on the road, 3-0 last Wednesday, the reigning Italian champions won with an equally clear result at home (25-19, 25-20, 25-22 the partials) and conquered a place in the semifinals, where they will be awaited by Civitanova in a highly anticipated Italian derby.
Remarkable, for the Trentino team, was the performance of Kamil Rychlicki, author of 10 points, while Alessandro Michieletto put up 9 points. The only negative note è the injury to setter Riccardo Sbertoli, in the last bars of the first set: out as a precaution, in his place è entered Alessandro Acquarone.
Trento thus completes the draw for the semifinals, which will be played on March 12 and 19, barring any last-minute changes by the CEV, which is organizing the event. Facing the Trentino team will be Civitanova, which got the better of the Turks of Halkbank in the quarterfinals with a 3-1 double victory.
In the other semifinal, however, there will be another Turkish team, Ziraat Bankasi, which will face the Poles of Jastrzebski. The former beat the Spaniards from Guaguas, while the latter got the better of Piacenza, which was not enough to win 3-2 in the first leg given the 3-0 return for the defending Polish champion team.
