World Indoor Championships: Mattia Furlani d'silver in the long jump
Historic achievement for Mattia Furlani at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow. In fact, the 19-year-old Italian won the silver medal in the long jump, becoming the youngest medalist in the long jump in the history of the World Indoor Championships since 1985. The 2005 class battled on equal terms with the absolute ruler of the specialty, namely Greece’s Mitiadis Tentoglou.
Both signed a jump of 8.22 meters in the opening round, but the Hellenic prevailed by virtue of a second measure (8.19 vs. 8.10) at the end of a balanced competition until the last jump.
At the end of the competition, Mattia Furlani did not hide his satisfaction with the result to the microphones of "Rai Sport": "Incredible, a medal of this caliber è crazy. I have gained a lot of experience and mental stability thanks to the latest high-level competitions in which I participated.
I dreamed so much and reaching it è another thing. This è the first stage of a long journey. I thank my mother very much for always believing in me".
