Paris-Nice, Arvid De Kleijn triumphs in the sprint in the second stage

The second stage of Paris-Nice 2024 ended with the sprint triumph of Tudor Pro Cycling team rider Arvid De Kleijn. The Dutch rider mocked Australian Laurence Pithie (Groupama) and compatriot Dylan Groenewegen (Team Jayco AlUla) in the last meters. At the foot of the podium was Danny Van Poppel (BORA – hansgrohe).

Completing the top 10 are Gerben Thijssen (BEL), Sam Bennett (IRL), Dries Van Gestel (BEL), Mads Pedersen (DEN), Pascal Ackermann (GER) and Matteo Sobrero (ITA).

At the end of the race, Arvid De Kleijn did not hide his satisfaction with his victory, the twelfth in his career: "Beautiful to win for the first time at World Tour level, è I have been chasing a victory like that for a long time. It was a wonderful team performance. Having Trentin in our train means so much and we saw that today. Great job really by the team".

"Yesterday with Matteo we showed that we could stay in the first group to get results despite the stage being tough, today the opportunity was great for me. We went all-in on my characteristics and it worked" continued the Dutch cyclist.

"After catching Van Poppel’s wheel I was able to pick up speedà and I closed very well the last 50 meters. This team has already made great progress and it is great to breathe this enthusiasm and the desire to continuously improve" concluded Arvid De Kleijn.
