Six Italian women take part in the main draw of the "BNP Paribas Open", the third WTA 1000 of the season and the first ATP Masters 1000 in 2024, played on the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California. Sara Errani, ranked 100º, overcame Serbia's Krunic and Australia's Rodionova, advancing to qualifying. Camila Giorgi, returning after a month off, faces Britain&#39s Katie Boulter.

At the top of the draw, Jasmine Paolini, winner of the "1000" trophy in Dubai, faces either Dutch Arantxa Rus or German Tatjana Maria, with a possible third round against Kalinskaya and an eighth against Rybakina or Potapova.

At the lower end, Lucia Bronzetti challenges Poland&#39s Magdalena Frech, while Martina Trevisan meets France&#39s Diane Parry, winning her only previous match in the 2020 WTA 125 Prague. Elisabetta Cocciaretto takes on Peyton Stearns of the United States, with the winner facing Aryna Sabalenka in the second round.
