Roberto De Zerbi reopens for Serie A: “I don’t know when, but I’ll be back”
A clear promise, although the timing is currently far from set.
Roberto De Zerbi still craves Italy, and Serie A. The former Palermo, Benevento and Sassuolo coach is reaping victories and kudos in the Premier League at the helm of Brighton. It is precisely with his Seagulls that he will be on the pitch on Thursday in Rome, in the Europa League match against the Giallorossi at the Stadio Olimpico. And on that very occasion he wanted to emphasize his intention to return to his homeland, although there's yet to be determined when.
"It is not è true that I do not think about Italy, è my country,” De Zerbi explained in the press conference on the eve of the challenge against Roma. “I do what I like and what makes me happy, which now è being at Brighton. But more ahead in Italy I will return there. I can’t say when yet, there won’t be a set reason. Three years ago I had left Serie A to go to Shakhtar and create a path for myself outside my country as well. But that was my choice, due to details about which I do not want to go into detail".
De Zerbi then framed the reasons for satisfaction with his English choice: "At Brighton I am very well. I am lucky to have a team that allows me to play in competitions like the Europa League, and this gives satisfaction even when you lose. Plus, I have a group of players who always give me good things. Although we are not used to playing soì many games, and something on the road we have to lose for sure".
