Torino, Ivan Juric extols defense and spurs attack
Ivan Juric’s statements ahead of Napoli-Torino
After the scoreless draw against Fiorentina, Torino will continue its race toward a place in Europe away against Napoli, which comes from two consecutive victories with eight goals scored and two conceded. On the eve of the challenge at the Maradona, granata coach Ivan Juric bluntly analyzed the match that awaits his boys.
"The whole team is working well, not only the defensive department. We have a great desire not to take goals. Reviewing the game against Fiorentina, I saw situations where three of our guys came out to rebound a shot. This è the basis of success. I think we need to improve in attack. On the one hand I am happy about the 13 clean sheets, but on the other hand I am aware that we need to score more, otherwise you risk paying for every little mistake. We need to win 1-0 and find the details to bring home as many points as possible" began the coach of the granata.
"I think we lack results to give a positive assessment of the season. With Verona games like those with Fiorentina or Juventus we would have won them. We used to do these kinds of performances but we would find details or resources that allowed us to win against those who were stronger. The team reached a very high level of play but we did not get the results we needed to be satisfied. Now we have to do something special, when you play like this you have to have an obligation not to give up anything and to believe in our means. You have to kind of defy luck and think that sooner or later it will turn around" continued the former Verona coach.
"We have a staff that has been working together for many years and the preparation of the game does not change. I have to thank Italiano and Barone because they have known me for a long time, they were nice. They know that mine was a reaction of pure eagerness. They know how I behave off the field. The two-day è disqualification was generous and I was also cautioned. There'è much to learn in being able to avoid certain behaviors" added the Croatian coach.
"I have seen them much more confident, they have returned to work on concepts they knew and they are finding good performances again. It will be tough as always in Naples and I am convinced that it will be the episodes that will make the difference" concluded Ivan Juric.
