Roberto D’Aversa, Lecce stern: “Gesture contrary to the values of sport”
The distance taken by the club è official.
Lecce has been severe towards Roberto D'Aversa, guilty of hitting Verona player Thomas Henry (who was also sent off) with a header in the agitated finale of the match played Sunday at the Via del Mare stadium. In fact, the club has stigmatized the behavior of its coach in a note as succinct as it is very clear, published on its official website.
"U.S. Lecce, with reference to the episode involving coach D'Aversa and the Verona player Henry, while assessing the situation of general nervousness in the end of the match, strongly condemns the gesture of its coach as contrary to the principles and values of sport", can be read on the official pages of the Salento club.
D'Aversa himself had commented on the incident hot, a few minutes after the end of Lecce-Verona, at the microphones of 'Sky Sport'. "I did not enter the field to give a headbutt. First I wanted to greet Baroni, then to avoid prolems to my boys. He è approached, but my intention was not to go to Henry at all. There was no premeditation, absolutely not. I wanted to separate the players. Regardless, however, I reiterate that as a gesture è it was ugly to see. So I have to apologize", were his words.
